WHAT IS JUMPSTART'S READ FOR THE RECORD?
Jumpstart's Read for the Record is a national campaign designed to encourage hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book on the same day—September 20—engaging America in early learning activities. Join us and make early education a national priority.
WHY READ FOR THE RECORD?
Jumpstart's Read for the Record campaign aims to raise public awareness of a learning gap in early education. In America, 1 in 3 children arrive at their first day of school unprepared to learn, due primarily to economic inequality. We need your help to close this gap so that every child in America can succeed in school...and in life.
WHAT IS XM DOING TO SUPPORT JUMPSTART'S READ FOR THE RECORD?
- XM supported the campaign throughout the month of September 2007 with Jumpstart and early education-related programming on several XM channels.
- XM also hosted a virtual Read for the Record with several on-air personalities and friends reading the official campaign book, The Story of Ferdinand.
- XM Empowers sponsorsed an event in Washington, DC, (the company's headquarters) on September 20, 2007, where XM employees will distribute donated, custom edition copies of The Story of Ferdinand to DC-area preschools.
- Finally, XM encouraged the XM Nation to buy or donate a copy of the book.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
You can pledge to read The Story of Ferdinand, and help break the world record on September 20. You can also go online (www.readfortherecord.org/xm) and either purchase a copy of The Story of Ferdinand or donate a copy of the official campaign book to a child in need.
