"Nashville Star" is the original grassroots search to find America's next great country music star! This is the series' sixth season and the first on NBC! In addition to its debut on NBC, "Nashville Star" also welcomes a brand-new host, Billy Ray Cyrus, with judges John Rich, Jewel, and Jeffrey Steele! The winner or winners of this year's competition will receive a major recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville and the performance of a lifetime when they take to the world's stage at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
This year the auditions criss-crossed the USA and left no mic unturned with stops in Austin, Los Angeles, Washington D. C., Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Kansas City, Tallahassee, Denver, New Orleans, Portland and aboard U.S.S Iwo Jima for a special military casting call. Over 45,000 (more than double those who auditioned for the fifth season) auditioned to make their dreams come true.

Hometown - Crookstown, Minnesota | Audition City - Austin, TX
Alyson's passion for country music can only be matched by her love of animals. As a former Miss St. Paul, she loves the spotlight and performs on the weekends at local bars and parties, but she spends her days studying veterinarian science at the University of Tennessee in Martin, TN. Although she loves taking care of her house and husband, she says she's ready to hit the Nashville Star stage.

Ashley grew up on a 2,500-acre horse ranch in Minnesota. Her father is currently serving our country in Iraq, leaving her and her 12 brothers and sisters to run the ranch. Ashley is a true country girl, comfortable driving a tractor, catching fish with her brothers, or riding one of their 70 horses.
Hometown - Roosevelt, Utah | Audition City - Washington, DC
Charley is a horse ridin', cattle ropin' good-old-boy who grew up on a ranch in Utah. He left the farm to pursue a career in country music. Soon after making some positive strides, he received the news that his father was gravely ill. He then left the big city and returned home to care for his ailing father, who died one year later.

Coffey is a 28 year-old Creole cowboy from Bangs, TX who now lives in the big city of Los Angeles, CA with his 5-year-old daughter. This small town musician has left everything behind in order to succeed in LA. He is deep-rooted in his church, where he leads worship and is a symbol of inspiration to many underprivileged children.
Gabe Garcia
Hometown - Lytle, Texas | Audition City - Nashville, TN
Born and raised in San Antonio, Gabe would rather be poor and do what he loves than be rich and hate his job. He worked at a utility electric company for 10 years, but recently quite his job to pursue his music.
Hometown - Pineville, Louisiana | Audition City - Nashville, TN
Justin is a handsome singer songwriter, who currently resides in LA. Originally from Louisiana, Justin supports himself by working as a model, but music is his true passion. He hopes to one day be able to leave the modeling career behind and concentrate solely on his music career.
Hometown - Willoughby, Ohio | Audition City - Nashville, TN
Laura & Sophie are the typical high school teenagers except for one thing...they have phenomenal singing ability. They both live in Willoughby, Ohio a small town where hanging out and going to the mall is on every teenager's agenda. They met seven years ago as members of a singing group called The Singing Angels and have been best friends/singing partners ever since.

Melissa is "every" woman. She's a working mother of 5 children who flips houses for extra money. Like all working moms, her days are exceptionally busy as she strives to do it all. Her hopes and dreams have come second to her family, until now - it's her time to shine.

Shawn is originally from a small town in Iowa. She proved she is willing to do anything for her music career including leaving the love of her life, working on a hog farm, and helping her dad all to get herself to Nashville. The passion and sacrifice that she has endured in her life comes through in her singing.
Hometown - Cushing, Oklahoma | Audition City - Norfolk, VA
Tommy joined the Navy in 2006 as a mechanic on the USS Kittyhawk, stationed in Japan. While it's true he started singing at an early age, it wasn't until he joined the Navy that he started taking his music seriously. He has since applied the same discipline learned in the Navy to his own songwriting. His ultimate goal is to use his music to help people through troubled times.

This trio, known as Pearl Heart, is the product of a good strong devoted family. They're so strong that the entire family moved to Tennessee to support their daughters' dreams of becoming respected professional musicians.
Hometown - Las Vegas, NV | Audition City - Nashville, TN
Jeffrey, "Little Tony" and Tony first tried to make it in San Antonio, then Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and then Las Vegas, where they came up with their name - Third Town. After their tryout for "Nashville Star," the three were told that they didn't make the show's top 12. They returned to Las Vegas and resumed their lives of pounding the pavement in pursuit of their dreams. Then, the day before the first show taping, they got the call that will forever change their lives - they've made the top 12.
