The Derrick Ashong Experience, a live, weekly call-in show hosted by social entrepreneur Derrick N. Ashong, debuts on Oprah Radio Saturday, January 23 at 12 – 3 pm ET, with a special live broadcast at The Sundance Film Festival before an audience at The Phoenix Gallery in Park City, Utah. The show will air live Saturdays from 12 – 3 pm ET on Oprah Radio.
The Derrick Ashong Experience will be a mash-up of politics, pop-culture, social media, music and the arts, informed by Ashong’s experiences and travels across the globe. Derrick N. Ashong, aka DNA, will offer inspiration, wisdom and an open mike to listeners of all ages and will welcome a wide variety of guests from the worlds of politics, new media, entertainment and beyond. He will take calls from across the country and respond to emails and social media messages from more than 100 countries around the world.
Ashong, 34, a Harvard graduate, was born in Ghana, West Africa. He is the front man of the band Soulfège, which combines the sounds of hip-hop, reggae, funk & West African highlife. Ashong won Billboard’s 2007 World Song Writing Competition and appeared in Steven Spielberg's 1997 Amistad.
