Tuned in at 5:30AM and within a minute heard that the roads I normally take to work had accidents in several locations which I pass by. Hats off to the programming types that put the format together. I especially like the number of minutes expected to make it from the Occoquan Bridge to the Beltway, great metric and a lot more meaningful information than I had been getting on [our local station]. When I moved back to the area nine months ago and started a job that required a commute every day from Charlottesville VA to DC, the first thing I did was get an XM Radio. Since then, I've become dependent upon the service for my morning and evening news and entertainment, but have still been at the mercy of the, at best, irritating and, at worst, useless/spotty local 'traffic report'. Usually the best they can do is report 'heavy delays on I-66', which is completely pointless when one can see that firsthand. Your traffic reports in minutes from point to point and average speed is information I can use. Thanks again for another great service. John W. Washington, DC I LOVE the new traffic channels. I average about a 1 1/2 to 2 hour commute (each way) to and from work, and I was waiting with bated breath for March 1st. When I was first looking at satellite radio, I thought it was too bad that neither service offered any sort of traffic information. I was just leaving my office and turned the channel on. I immediately found out that the highway I normally take to go home was closed due to an accident. If I had heard the traffic report even 10-15 minutes later then when I did, I would have been stuck in the traffic. Fortunately, I was able to take an alternate route. Brad G. Detroit, MI A little background: I chose XM Radio because my one way commute to work is 65 miles (about 1-1/2 hours) and I was so tired of hearing half-hours of commercials on FM radio. My husband bought me a car CD player for my birthday, but aside from CDs being rather expensive, you could only listen to one artist at a time. XM Radio is the answer to my problems! I can hear any kind of music I want. No commercials!!! I am delighted with the service, and most of the time, the reception is fabulous! And, now, to make it complete!!! Your traffic reports are wonderful!!!!! It's a dream come true! I can listen to my favorite music and when traffic slows up, I can flip to your station and find out what's happening in front of me. Also, for those of us deprived of fancy current temperature features in our cars, the display of current weather and temperature is a neat feature...and who doesn't like having instant weather data with the push of a preprogrammed button? While the local radio stations try to limit traffic reports to about 30 seconds to squeeze them in-between commercials, XM is giving me ALL the information I need to get to work on time!! Orlando, FL The traffic portion for the St. Louis area has been totally correct. I have been listening to the station in the morning (7 a.m.) and the early afternoon (11:00 ish) drive time. They have been accurate and they also let you know of events in town and when to avoid certain areas of St. Louis (i.e. SLU basketball game therefore traffic in that area b/w 7-8 p.m.) It was quick and to the point. The speed and diction was great. The Road names were perfectly on target. The weather has been accurate and detailed to the hour. The Pittsburgh instant traffic reports are extremely helpful during my daily commute to and from work. Before I head to work or home, I tune to channel 215 to hear about the road conditions on the Parkway East (I-376 East). It sure helps me to avoid congestion and delays. I am an over the road truck driver and having up to the minute traffic and weather info at my fingertips is sure to be an invaluable tool to keep me moving as efficiently as possible. Charles M.
