about the several excellent hardware choices available to receive
the XM WX signal.
Trusted Weather Sources
WxWorx, an affiliate of Baron
Services (the
nation’s leading provider of analytical weather services to
the TV Broadcast and emergency management industries), is the provider
of the location-specific weather data and groundbreaking, patented
technology powering the XM WX Weather data service. All weather data
is collected from well-established government (e.g., the National
Weather Service, U.S. Navy) and private sources. This same information
is used today by television stations across the U.S. providing weather
information to over 235 million people.
Continuous Broadcast/Optimal
Signal
Weather data is collected regularly
and broadcast continuously to provide each subscriber with important,
near real-time weather information over XM’s powerful commercial
satellite system. XM’s satellites simultaneously transmit all
data, optimizing signal availability to the mobile, as well as fixed-location,
markets. XM’s transmission in the S-band remains strong even
in poor weather conditions. Go
to How XM Works.
Compact Weather and Audio
Solution
Subscribers benefit from XM Satellite
Radio’s signal and patented receiver technology – the
antenna and receiver required for XM WX Satellite Weather are generally
smaller, lighter and more affordable than those used with other satellite
weather solutions. Unlike no other weather service, some vendor
hardware also allows for receipt of both weather data and XM audio services
over the same antenna and receiver.
